Who would have thought it: Now I’m learning Arabic with fun – after I almost dropped out. But then Corona whirled everything upside down and gave me new ideas. For example, to look for an Arabic course one last time. And I found it! Read here what happened. Weiterlesen

Like almost every year, I tried to escape the Christmas rush. And like almost every year, I ended up right in the middle of it. Since in Costa Rica they also celebrate Christmas, which is actually no surprise. And since I live with a nice Tico family, I couldn’t avoid the merry Christmas.
Tortuguero on the Caribbean coast has long been on my excursion wish list. As a great frog lover I want to see the poison dart frogs. And since it is raining constantly in the Caribbean anyway, it doesn’t matter when I go there. So I book my hostel and leave. Three busses and a boat later I am in Tortuguero. For the welcome it starts to pour immediately.
Costa Rica is only slightly larger than Lower Saxony. But if you want to travel from A to B here, you sometimes need strong nerves. During rush hour and on weekends nothing works and it often takes hours to cover a few kilometres. Or to put it another way: traffic is a disaster, especially in the greater San José, Heredia, Alajuela area. Therefore it is better to plan the excursions. Besides good timing, for example, bus trips also require scouting skills … because every bus leaves somewhere else.
Costa Rica has so much natural beauty to offer. It is difficult to set priorities in terms of excursions. On top of that, it is the high season and a lot going on. Actually, this friendly place, where up to 150 children aged 0-12 years are cared for, is called „Guardería Luz Divino“ („Day Care Center Divine Light“). Whoever is accepted here is really lucky. The caregivers are very committed and dedicate themselves with much love to the children neglected at home.
The three weeks in Morocco have flown by. In my quarter in the Medina of Essaouira I am now greeted with „Hello neighbor“. The sellers have given up trying to talk me into buying any kind of stuff. I met a lot of nice people like my Arabic teacher Baddredine, Hicham from the cosy library-café „L′Esprit“ and Khaled, who owns the restaurant „Chez les frères“ across the street. Today, on my last evening, I round my Morocco vacation off with a last visit in Khaled’s restaurant.
