Green, greener, Tortuguero

The WorldTravelerTortuguero on the Caribbean coast has long been on my excursion wish list. As a great frog lover I want to see the poison dart frogs. And since it is raining constantly in the Caribbean anyway, it doesn’t matter when I go there. So I book my hostel and leave. Three busses and a boat later I am in Tortuguero. For the welcome it starts to pour immediately.

Bus, train, water taxi: Nothing for sissies

The WorldTravelerCosta Rica is only slightly larger than Lower Saxony. But if you want to travel from A to B here, you sometimes need strong nerves. During rush hour and on weekends nothing works and it often takes hours to cover a few kilometres. Or to put it another way: traffic is a disaster, especially in the greater San José, Heredia, Alajuela area. Therefore it is better to plan the excursions. Besides good timing, for example, bus trips also require scouting skills … because every bus leaves somewhere else.

Almost like paradise

The WorldTravelerCosta Rica has so much natural beauty to offer. It is difficult to set priorities in terms of excursions. On top of that, it is the high season and a lot going on. Since I don’t want to sit on a crowded beach, I decide to go to a remote little place in the southwest of the country. The journey there is not without its difficulties. But I’m already used to a lot of things and I’m not deterred by the cumbersome way to get there. And I will be rewarded for my efforts!
